Heller Aller Hand Pitcher Pumps

Heller Aller

Heller Aller

The Heller-Aller Company in Napoleon, Ohio was a leading manufacturer of deep-well windmills. Starting in business in 1886, it lasted -- remarkably-- until the early 1990s. Hitzer Inc. purchased Heller-Aller in 1995, largely for its patented water pumps and continued to manufacture the same efficient hand windmill and pitcher pumps. These quality pumps include deep well hand pumps, windmill pumps, and pitcher pumps. The Heller-Aller hand pumps are still proudly made in the USA by Amish craftsmen.

Questions & Answers

In a single-acting pitcher pump the water is “lifted” and “bubbles” out of the discharge spout on the up stroke. The down stroke is used only to re-set the piston.
In a double-acting pitcher pump the water is “lifted” on the up stroke and is discharged under pressure on the down stroke. A double-acting pitcher pump requires more force than a single-acting unit.
